Godzilla Minus One earned awards for visual effects. Unfortunately, the rest of the mov Writing, casting and production up several levels writing, casting and production up several levels, Godzilla Minus One made no such choices.
The Godzilla story is more or less consistent with other Godzilla stories. That's not the problem. The problem is that it's also consistent with poor acting, poor dubbing, and poor script writing. The music is a missed opportunity, as it is just generic insipid classical movie music. Classical movie music can be great, when we consider movies like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Star Wars, and so forth. Instead, they phoned it in.
Meanwhile, the visual effects are overstated. That Godzilla Minus One won an award for them is a mistake. It is nothing more than a modern version of a 1950s B-movie.
It's the kind of iconic movie which deserves to be elevated.
Hollywood: if you see this, consider the above. Think of a way to make this movie great.
